CoolSculpting Elite

What is CoolSculpting?  It is a procedure that is noninvasive, to break down fat cells that are just beneath the skin by delivering controlled cooling at the surface of the skin.  CoolSculpting is FDA approved to treat 9 different areas of the body. These include the abdomen, chin, bra area, back fat, flanks, banana roll (under the buttocks), Inner and outer thighs and distal thigh (above the knees).  It is not a treatment for weight loss and will not replace the traditional methods such as diet, exercise or liposuction.

It works by freezing the targeted area of the fat cells just below the skin and will eliminate the destroyed fat through the lymphatic system over the next couple months.  Each applicator that is placed on the targeted area could take anywhere from 35 to 45 minutes for each applicator so you may be in the office for an extended period of time.  Possibly taking anywhere from 2 hours or more for your first session.  You will come back 5-6 weeks later to have your second session targeting the same area.  You will start to see noticeable changes within weeks of your first treatment.  Over the next couple months, you will see more of a loss.  Our office has the newest CoolSculpting Elite platform that is available on the market.  We are the only office in the area that offers this technology.

CoolSculpting Elite FAQ
How does CoolSculpting® work?

CoolSculpting is a branded form of fat reduction method called cryolipolysis. As with other forms of cryolipolysis, it uses freezing temperatures to break down fat cells. Fat cells are more affected by cold temperatures than other cells. This means that the cold does not damage other cells, such as the skin or underlying tissue.

What parts of the body can I have treated?

CoolSculpting is FDA cleared to treat the jawline, under the chin, the upper arms, back fat, bra fat, the flank area (love handles), abdomen, inner and outer thighs and under the buttocks (banana roll).

How long will it take and does it hurt?

Typically, it could take anywhere from 2 hours plus depending on the area that is being treated.   Each applicator that is placed could take anywhere from 35-75 minutes depending on the type of placement required.   This will be discussed with you during your consultation.

Regarding how it feels, once the applicator has been placed on your treatment area, you will feel tugging, pulling, mild pinching, intense cold, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site.  This will subside once the initial cooling period has kicked in (about 5 minutes).  After this, you should not have any pain during the treatment time.  Once the time is up, you will have a 2-minute massage that will break down those frozen fat cells and initiate the area back to room temperature.  This will probably be the most uncomfortable portion of the entire treatment.
